Some failures do not belong to engines in general but to one particular design. This is where we collect the engines we have taken apart and measured, each with its typical weak point and what can be done about it.
For the 2.0 TDI with a balancer shaft module, the best place to start is the article on the EA189 module. If you drive a VW T5 with the 2.0 BiTDI, the CFCA article covers what makes this engine different. More engines will follow once we know them well enough to say something solid.
